If you’ve got, or ever had a serious Debt problem then you’ll know just how daunting, confusing and lonely it can feel.
Figuring out what to do next isn’t easy, making you extremely vulnerable to anyone who appears to hold the answers.
Thankfully The Debt Standard, a new quality mark scheme with an instantly recognisable logo has been launched to signpost anyone seeking a way out of debt towards companies with their best interests at heart.
It’s common for people with a debt problem to go through a period of denial. They think that if they ignore it for long enough, it might go away. But of course it never does.
Around six to nine months later they raise their head from the sand to face the music. And from here on in the pace picks up, with most people signing up to a debt repayment plan within a mere nine days. Unfortunately, driven by their desperation to turn their life around, 90% commit the cardinal sin of signing up with the first company to throw them a lifeline.
On the face of it this might not sound so terrible. After all, signing up to a debt solution is hardly like buying a car where you’ll research the finer details, such as what comes as standard; how much luggage you can fit in the boot and what mpg you can expect. A debt solution, is a debt solution, is a debt solution. Right?
Wrong. Debt solutions come in all shapes and sizes. And, just like buying a car as if they were all the same might land with you a Mini Cooper for your family of six, not every debt solution company will provide the right solution for your own individual circumstances either. In fact the solution they offer you might be so wrong for you, that it will drastically reduce your chances of becoming debt free at all.
To make it easier for people to find the right debt solution for their individual circumstances, The Debt Standard, the UK’s first independent quality mark system has been launched. Member companies all adhere to a rigorous code of practice, earning them the right to display The Debt Standard logo. At the heart of this code of practice is you, the customer. So, by looking for and only talking to companies displaying The Debt Standard logo, getting out of debt needn’t feel as daunting, confusing or indeed as lonely as it did in the past.
